Sustainable Supply Chain and its Risk Management: A Systematic Literature Review of Issues and Trends using a Bibliometric and Network Approach

    Get PDF
The risks associated with sustainable supply chains (SSCs) have been receiving increasing attention. However, despite increasing research on SSCs, SSC-related risks have not been reviewed satisfactorily or comprehensively. Therefore, we conducted a systematic literature review that incorporated bibliometric, citation network, and keyword network analysis. For this purpose, we selected the top journals in the field of supply chain management and identified 823 related papers in the Scopus database. The analysis revealed the critical issues, topics, and changes over time in research regarding SSC-related risks. Furthermore, we identified specific issues and explored SSC risks via keyword network analysis

Simultaneous detection of the nonlinear restoring and excitation of a forced nonlinear oscillation: an integral approach

    Get PDF
We address in this article, how to calculate the restoring characteristic and the excitation of a nonlinear forced oscillating system. Under the assumption that the forced nonlinear oscillator has a periodic solution with period, we constructed a system of linear equations by introducing time-dependent multipliers. The periodicity assumption helps simplify the system of linear equations. The stability and uniqueness are also presented for the inverse problem. Numerical testing is conducted to show the effectiveness of our presented methodology.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Does The Market React Differently To Chaebol Firms?

    Get PDF
Based on a sample of Korean firms listed on the KOSPI and KOSDAQ from 2001 to 2011, we examined whether the affiliation of a firm with a Chaebol group affects the sensitivity of stock prices to earnings surprises. We found that the market response to positive (negative) earnings surprises is more positive (negative) for Chaebol firms than for non-Chaebol firms. In addition, we investigated how intra-group transactions affect the ERCs of Chaebol firms by comparing with those of non-Chaebol firms. Our results show that the intra-group transactions of Chaebol firms are positively related to ERCs under both positive and negative earnings surprises. However, we did not find the same results from the analyses of non-Chaebol firms

Non-Audit Services And The Persistence And Market Pricing Of Earnings: Evidence From Korea

We examine the effects of the concurrent provision of audit and non-audit services on auditor independence using earnings persistence, which is one of the qualitative properties of earnings, as well as related market responses. Empirical results are as follows. First, the accruals persistence of the group that is concurrently provided audit and non-audit services in many cases is shown to be lower than that of the group that is not concurrently provided audit and non-audit services. Second, the phenomenon of low accruals persistence of the group that is concurrently provided a lot of audit and non-audit services is shown to be overestimated in the market. This study contributes to existing research in three main respects. First, from the viewpoint of earnings persistence, it is verified that rather than whether non-audit services are provided or not, the level of non-audit services acts as an important factor in determining damage to auditor independence by the concurrent provision of audit and non-audit services. Second, in relation to market rationality, whether the market appropriately reflects changes in the persistence of earnings and accruals according to whether non-audit services are provided or not is analyzed. Third, through additional analysis, it is verified that differences in the persistence of earnings and accruals among groups that are concurrently provided audit and non-audit services vary with the audit environment

Applying Grounded Theory to Conceptual Data Modeling: Effects of Constant Comparative Method

    Get PDF
This article presents an experimental design and the pilot experiment results of applying grounded theory to conceptual datamodeling. The objective of this study is to develop a procedural method for concept discovery, which is essential in datamodeling. The research focuses on addressing the lack of procedural methods for understanding domain knowledge by datamodeler. The key idea of this article is that conceptual modeling can be strengthened by applying a constant comparativemethod of coding and analysis, which has been used to discover concepts in the social sciences. This article contributes newknowledge about the effects of applying interdisciplinary concept discovery in the context of conceptual data modeling. Theresults of the pilot experiment show that the proposed approach would have positive results

Spin-phonon relaxation times in centrosymmetric materials from first principles

    Get PDF
We present a first-principles approach for computing the phonon-limited T₁ spin relaxation time due to the Elliott-Yafet mechanism. Our scheme combines fully relativistic spin-flip electron-phonon interactions with an approach to compute the effective spin of band electrons in materials with inversion symmetry. We apply our method to silicon and diamond, for which we compute the temperature dependence of the spin relaxation times and analyze the contributions to spin relaxation from different phonons and valley processes. The computed spin relaxation times in silicon are in excellent agreement with experiment in the 50–300 K temperature range. In diamond, we predict intrinsic spin relaxation times of 540 μs at 77 K and 2.3 μs at 300 K. We show that the spin-flip and momentum relaxation mechanisms are governed by distinct microscopic processes. Our work enables precise predictions of spin-phonon relaxation times in a wide range of materials, providing microscopic insight into spin relaxation and guiding the development of spin-based quantum technologies
